How it works

From dream to milestone, in four steps

Set the target once; your portfolio does the rest.

1
Define your goal

Choose a name, target amount and optional deadline. Whether it is $10,000 for an emergency fund or $1M for retirement.

2
Link accounts

Connect one or more portfolio accounts to each goal. The total value of linked accounts drives your progress.

Watch progress

As you contribute, invest and grow your assets, your goal progress bar fills automatically.

Why not a spreadsheet?

Goal tracker vs a savings spreadsheet

A savings tracker spreadsheet works, until life gets busy. Here is the difference.

📄

The spreadsheet

Progress is whatever you last typed in, so the tracker is only as current as your discipline. Every account balance is copied over by hand, milestones are a formatting exercise, and abandoned tabs outnumber finished goals.

The goal tracker

Goals link to your real accounts, so progress moves when your money moves: contributions, market growth, debt paydown. Milestones tick off as you pass them, and the timeline shows honestly whether you are on pace.

Better together

Combine goals with portfolio tracking

Goal planning works best when paired with portfolio tracking. Track your real account values and see your goals update automatically as your wealth grows.

Frequently asked questions

Is goal planning free?+

Yes. Goal planning is a free feature available to all registered users. Set financial goals, track your progress and visualize your path to success at no cost.

What kinds of goals can I set?+

Six types: savings targets, net worth goals, debt freedom, retirement, investment targets and fully custom goals. Each can track progress from your actual account values or from amounts you update manually.

How does goal tracking work?+

Goals are linked to your portfolio accounts - a specific account, all accounts of a type, or your whole portfolio. As your account values change through contributions, market growth or debt reduction, your goal progress updates automatically. Prefer to keep a goal separate? Track it with manual updates instead.

Can I track paying off debt as a goal?+

Yes. Debt freedom is its own goal type: it remembers your starting balance and measures how much you have paid down, so the progress bar fills as the debt shrinks rather than as savings grow.

How are goal projections calculated?+

Deliberately simply: from your monthly contribution, projected forward in a straight line to show when you would reach the target. No assumed market returns are baked in, so the projection never flatters you - if your portfolio grows faster, you arrive early.

Can I have multiple goals at once?+

Yes. You can track multiple financial goals simultaneously. Whether you are saving for an emergency fund while also working toward retirement, each goal tracks independently.

Do I need Premium for goal planning?+

No. Goal planning is completely free. Premium adds features like daily snapshots, dividend analysis and ETF overlap detection - but goal planning works fully on the free plan.

Can other people see my goals?+

No. Goals are private to your account and protected by row-level security in the database, the same as your portfolio data. Signup needs only an email and a password, and you can delete your account and data at any time.

Can I set milestones within a goal?+

Yes. Add amount checkpoints and checklist tasks to any goal, or use the automatic 25/50/75/100% milestones. Each one is marked as you pass it, which keeps long goals motivating.

Can I change my goals later?+

Yes. You can update your target amount, deadline, milestones or linked accounts at any time. Goals are flexible and can evolve as your financial situation changes.
